After reading this authors first series, my expectations were very high. Sadly, they fell extremely short. From the start, I had a hard time reading this as basic knowledge of equine care etc was overlooked and it was clear the author did NO research whatsoever. There was more thought put into the military aspect which, at times even in the first series, was incorrect but, I could overlook it with a mental correction.The story itself isn't bad. Unfortunately, as with the beginning of any new series, the amount of character thrown at the reader is a bit daunting. The ability for ALL the team members to be able to drop everything so suddenly and be available was a bit unbelievable. The military doesn't work that way.I had a hard time with the editing issues. They kept pulling me from the story. It's a pet peeve of mine.The two leads seemed well suited to each other though there wasn't a whole lot of alone time to deal with their issues. The angst level could have been ramped up a lot. It was just barely touched on. Everything was wrapped up way too quickly and neatly though the two leads have a lot to deal with in the future.I will be hard pressed to dive right into the next book in this series if this is the way it's going to go.
