For the most part, I enjoyed this set. It was mostly well-written, but there were some error themes (lay/lie) and then the third book started having more & more problems. There were missing quotes, subject/object pronoun errors, lie/lay errors, and there was a spot where Jayne leaned against the Cherokee, only she didn't have the Cherokee in that scene, she had the cop van. Sloppy work really detracts from being able to just go along for the ride. (I know some people aren't bothered by these things, but some of us are.)The characters were mostly likeable, though I sometimes had trouble keeping them straight (Honey & Sugar?). I don't know if it was how they were presented or if I've just been too tired to keep that much in RAM. I think, for me, maybe some of them just weren't developed enough or didn't come across as genuine or didn't have distinct enough personalities. Parts fell a little flat.I never got a sense for the layout of the village. There were descriptions, but it never coalesced in my mind's eye. Again, it could be me.I was having a hard time with dog (can't even think of her name now & it's only been a week...). It felt more like the dog was there when it was convenient & then dropped out of the scenes when it wasn't convenient. The behavior, the handling, the over-treating... She's a K9 cop but she failed as one... It didn't quite work for me. Though, the dog behavior did hit spot on much of the time. :)It seemed as if some of the Wiccan things were handled well. I didn't look everything up to verify it, but I found it interesting when certain crystals and teas and things were mentioned and it seemed as if there had been work done to make sure things were accurate.Overall, the stories were likeable. I'd read more by this author. I wouldn't put her in my favorite category, but I've definitely read worse.
